Point of clarification re Two Factor Identification, Trusted Number, should the trusted number be your cell phone or someone elseโ€™s number (ie my hubby who I am travelling with)?

Makes sense. I will change that info. Thx for the article. I am forwarding it to my travelling friends. BTW I use a reinforced lanyard attached securely under my phone case and wear my cell around my neck when I travel. This works well for extra protection from thieves and clumsy travellers!

Hi Toby, you should use someone elseโ€™s number, preferably the person you are traveling with! Youโ€™ll need to get and apply 2FA codes as quickly as possible.

This is great can it be 'translated' for Android phone users?

Hi Jeremy, glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I do not own an Android phone so I cannot speculate on the specific settings for this operating system. Sorry!

I have a problem with 2 step authentication. It essentially locked me out of my Gmail account when the phone I was using died and I couldn't access the email account to verify myself.

Karen by โ€œdiedโ€ I assume you donโ€™t just mean that your phone was temporarily out of juice. Were you able to address the issue using a laptop or tablet?

Such a good reminder for travelers! ๐ŸŒ Iโ€™m a Japanese woman who loves traveling, and Iโ€™m always curious about the little things people do to stay safe abroad.

Whatโ€™s the one travel safety tip you never leave home without?
